Purpose
Creates a short-range scoring finish.
Setup
- Pair boxers as A and B
- Start at technical pace, complete the sequence, reset, then swap roles
Run it
- A steps in with left uppercut, left hook or right uppercut-left hook, then steps out
- B catches/blocks lightly
- Reset, check shape, then repeat
Coach checks
- Short
- clean
- visible finish. Check the purpose: creates a short-range scoring finish
Scale it
Advanced: add right hand after hook.
Common faults
- Rushing the drill
- overreaching
- standing still after punching
- or trying to win the drill instead of learning the skill
Amateur relevance
Clean visible contact, immediate answer after defence, and a composed exit help the boxer look in control.
Use it
Run at rhythm pace first, then add one layer: speed, movement, counter, exit or coach call.
