By DrillGrid Admin
Purpose
Introduces compact defence to uppercuts/body shots.
Setup
- Pair boxers as A and B
- Start at technical pace, complete the sequence, reset, then swap roles
Run it
- A throws light uppercut to body/head line
- B drops shoulder slightly, elbows tight, catches, then steps out
- Reset, check shape, then repeat
Coach checks
Do not fold forward. Keep posture. Check the purpose: introduces compact defence to uppercuts/body shots.
Scale it
Add B hook after block.
Common faults
- Rushing the drill
- overreaching
- standing still after punching
- or trying to win the drill instead of learning the skill
Amateur relevance
Clean visible contact, immediate answer after defence, and a composed exit help the boxer look in control.
Use it
Run at rhythm pace first, then add one layer: speed, movement, counter, exit or coach call.
