Purpose
Teaches the boxer to defend the hook and answer again.
Setup
- Pair boxers as A and B
- Start at technical pace, complete the sequence, reset, then swap roles
Run it
- A throws 1-2-3
- B catches/rolls the hook and counters right hand-left hook
- A exits
- Reset, check shape, then repeat
Coach checks
- Roll under
- do not bend at waist. Check the purpose: teaches the boxer to defend the hook and answer again
Scale it
Add final jab to show control.
Common faults
- Rushing the drill
- overreaching
- standing still after punching
- or trying to win the drill instead of learning the skill
Amateur relevance
Clean visible contact, immediate answer after defence, and a composed exit help the boxer look in control.
Use it
Use only after the base movement is reliable. Add choice, rhythm breaks or round pressure carefully.
